Theremini
The Theremini is an enhanced version of the classic Theremin, first invented by Leon Theremin in the 1920s. It uses an antenna to pick up changes to electromagnetic fields and convert these into sounds. This leads to the magic-seeming effect of creating sound without touching anything.
Thereminis can be played like an acoustic instrument, creating melodies and rhythms. However, they also provide an opportunity to explore the world of sound effects and sound design as well as cross-curricular science and history topics.
