HONK youth street band was formed in July 2016 – a joint venture with Lancashire Music Service and More Music. The band are now looking to recruit new members in brass, woodwind and percussion in all ages and abilities!
HONK is an exciting band to be part of, lead by Helen Minshall, Ben McCabe and Matt Robinson the band have performed at many high profile concerts, festival and gigs across the region including the Clitheroe Jazz Festival, the Kite Festival in Morecambe, Preston Guildhall and the Lancashire Schools Olympics.
In 2018 HONK are taking part in the Music For Youth regional festival in Rochdale on Saturday 24 March. Music for Youth is an exciting country-wide celebration of music making, and following the regional festivals, the adjudicators choose ensembles to go to Birmingham in July to take part in the big National Festival. From this, a small number are invited to London to perform at the Royal Albert Hall in the Schools Prom in November.
There is a second rehearsal on Sunday 4th March, same venue and time where the rehearsal is more structured with a focus on performance.
