The Lancashire Youth Jazz Orchestra is one of the best youth bang bands in the North of England. The band has performed all over the country playing big band music from the big band era to the present day.
Their special guest is Preston born trombonist Alistair White, an ex-member of the LYJO who was Young Jazz Musician of the Year in 1997; he was also BBC Best Trombonist 2000 and 2001.
Alistair plays trombone, euphonium and bass trombone; he is currently the trombonist in the bands of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Incognito and Beautiful: The Carole King West End Musical. He has also played with artists such as: Quincy Jones, Maceo Parker, Jamie Cullum, Incognito, Charlie Haden’s Liberation Music Orchestra, John Dankworth, Cleo Laine, Tony Bennett, Patti Austin, James Morrison, Georgie Fame, Stan Tracey, Guy Barker, the list goes on.
